Welcome to Claremore
Welcome to Claremore! Claremore, Oklahoma holds stories of the Osage, the Cherokee and the Cowboy alike. We have tales of the mighty railroad and the romance of America’s Mother Road, Route 66. Our storytellers like cowboy humorist, Will Rogers, shared humor with the world, and noted author, Lynn Riggs, made the world fall in love with “Oklahoma!” Visit Claremore, go to the museums, shop, eat, and take some time to walk around downtown! Find the mural in the ally and take a selfie with Will Rogers, astronaut Stuart Roosa, or the famous Route 66 insignia! Or, find the real “surrey with the fringe on the top” from the movie “Oklahoma!” in the Claremore Museum of History.
From unique boutiques to rare antiques, from delicious diners to tasty tea rooms, Claremore truly has a vibrant heart. Claremore, a place that still values community, is known for our small town charm, great hospitality and friendly people. We treat neighbors like family, and visitors like neighbors.
For nearly 60 years, a two-lane road running 2,448 miles connected Chicago to Los Angeles. For Oklahomans it was the path to promise to escape the Dust Bowl that ravaged the Midwest. Now, Route 66 is a nostalgic destination for travelers of all ages. Oklahoma is home to the longest stretch of original Route 66 - about 400 miles and lucky for us, Route 66 runs right through the middle of Claremore! While you are traveling the Mother Road, be sure to visit our great Route 66 attractions.
